The Philippines Air Force had the presidential F27 Friendship repainted into a more neutral grey livery, similar to their other F27’s. With its impressive 59 years of active service, 59-0259 (10115) is the oldest Friendship flying worldwide (unknown photographer at Facebook via Jacques Vooren, Manila, January 13, 2018)

Startup airline Maandeeq Air Logistics in Somalia leased 5Y-MIS (20111) from Kenyan Skyward Express (Maandeeq at Facebook, unknown location, April 2018)

After the demise of Sparrow Aviation last June, F50 SE-LIR (20151) returned to Amapola Flyg. They sent it to the Satys paintshop for a fresh coat of paint. Remarkably
it arrived at Lelystad in the basic red Skyways colors, so the purple Sparrow colors must have been decals (Jan Bekker, Lelystad, August 8, 2018). On 17 August the aircraft rolled out of the paintshop all white and returned to Malmö 210818. Few days later it was noted in the full color scheme of Braathens Regional Airways (BRA) (Krister Karlsmoen, Stockholm-Bromma August 28, 2018)

After more than one year of preparations, Gran Colombia de Aviación (GCA) will commence domestic flights from Cali to Bucaramanga, Cartagena and Cúcuta in early October. GCA is the first foreign subsidiary of Venezuelan Aviones de Oriente (Avior) Airlines and was established in order to circumvent the problems the airlines in that country are struggling with. Plans are that the GCA fleet will eventually include all six Avior F50’s as well as three Boeing 737’s. The livery of GCA is
very similar to that of Avior, so only the airline titles need to be changed. The first F50 arriving in Cali was YV2948 (20198) (Andres Restrepo, Cali, August 21, 2018)

General news

Alliance Airlines Pty, currently the largest Fokker operator in the world, has signed a contract with KLM UK Engineering in Norwich, for the maintenance of the entire fleet of 40 Fokkers during the coming 10 years. Aircraft needing heavy maintenance will come to Norwich, the other maintenance will be done locally.

On 31 August 2018, SHS Antwerp Aviation announced to have liquidated VLM Airlines; all operations were immediately ceased. Recently, four F50’s had been sold to Largus Aviation (operating as Amapola Flyg). The remaining three airframes (OO-VLS 20109, OO-VLQ 20159 and OO-VLI 20226) are still at Antwerp airport as part of the inventory under administration.
